Lois made this "bad Sue" quilt with blocks of her own design. She writes:
In a former series, I used the symbol of Sue to represent violence against women. After giving poor Sue such a rough time, I thought it was about time she had some fun. So this quilt is dedicated to Bad Sue, doing all the things that good little girls are NOT supposed to do.
SURFER SUE - Sue is hanging ten in the big surf, dressed for comfort, with just her Hawaiian print bonnet. Grab the sun screen, Sue!
BIKER BABE SUE - Here she comes down the road, dressed in the height of biker fashion, in her black leathers with plenty of chains and her tattoo. This ensemble features raven wings on the bonnet. Sue rides a 1999 Harley Sportster. Way to go, Sue!
PEEPING SUE - Not only is she peeking under the door of the outhouse, but she is ready to throw a lighted firecracker under the door! NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY Sue! (My husband insists that it's a stick of dynamite!)
THE PERILS OF PAULINE SUE - In that classic silent movie, "The Perils of Pauline", the helpless heroine is tied to the railroad track, with the locomotive coming in the distance, while the villain rubs his hands in glee. If you don't give me the deed to your ranch - etc. etc. Well, Sue has forestalled him this time, she is tearing up the track!
RAINY DAY SUE - Once upon a time, on a very rainy afternoon, there was a very bored little girl. As she sat on her grandmother's bed, she started to untie the knots holding the quilt together. BAD, BAD Sue! (And Gramie never said a word about it!!!!)
CHEERLEADER SUE - In the old school spirit, Sue is cheering on the team of SU, (Sue University). However, should she be doing it in the library? And dancing on the desk? RAH, RAH, SUE!!!GO, SUE, GO!!!!!
